Hey everyone,
My wyandotte Patsy hasn't been acting herself. She isn't laying eggs yet (in case anyone wants an age estimate). She is eating/drinking and wanders around her field but just kind of "plops" down and isn't really interacting as enthusiastically as her gal pals. This is how she has been sitting around:
Any thoughts?

Is her crop emptying overnight?
How long have you had her, exactly how old is she?
What does her poop look like?

Check her crop when she goes to roost, it should be full (firm), then check it first thing in the morning, it should be flat (empty). Smell her breath to see if it has a foul odor.

Also feel her abdomen, does it feel soft, hard, squishy, fluid filled, bloated?

If you have a vet, you may want to take a fresh poop sample to have tested for Cocci and worms, just to rule out an overload of either one of those.

I got her in September and don't know her exact age. I am anticipating eggs from her any day though. I will check her crop when I open the coop up in the AM. If it's not emptying what do you recommend doing? I've seen various ways but have never had to do it.
