Have a Red Sex Leg, don't know age, but acquired as a layer about 6 months ago. Last 2 days extremely lethargic, Sleeping, moves slowly, very little appetite. Free ranger, first into coop in the evening.
Other chickens are showing no signs.
Any Idea?
Thanks,

HI!!!! :) sorry for your poor hen!

First, check for mites and lices under the feathers..they can be dangerous for hens.
Than, Check the crop and abdomen.
is the crop emptying regularly?
is the abdomen swollen? Is
How are her poops?
Is she drinking?

I spray them regularly for mites.
The crop and abdomen feel normal, no bulging.
Poop is watery with a few green solids.
And I have seen her at the waterer several times.

Most of the time in older hens, those symptoms are usually because of a crop problem or a reproductive infection (salpingitis or egg yolk peritonitis. Check the crop early in the morning before she eats to see if it is empty and flat. If not there might be a slow crop. Does she normally lay eggs? Has she been molting recently?

Normal layer, but has stopped.
And doesn't appear to have respiratory problems.
She has no problem getting away when I try to catch her.
