We bought the last 3 BB White turkey poults at a feed store yesterday. They look about 1 or 2 weeks old. One isn't looking so hot, but we didn't want to leave him on his own. I put them in with my 7 week old Chocolate Orpingtons. They are very docile and in fact, were afraid of the poults. I though the orpingtons might help teach the poults to eat/drink and well as keep them warm in their fluffy feathers. There is a heat lamp in my shed but not directly over the large brooder the turkeys were in. My uncle went out to do chores today as his goat is due soon, and moved the turkeys to the brooder with my newly hatched chicks. He said they were being pecked on, although none have blood on them. I moved out the orpingtons (they will live outside now), and put in my 4 oldest chicks in with the poults (the chicks are 1 week old). They are just sleeping rn, not peeping, walking, drinking, or anything. Did I kill them? I've raised so many turkeys before and thought this would be ok. What should I do???????

Ok, They are looking better now that they have more size-appropriate friends. Still weak, but I'm confident the 2 healthier ones will pull through

Most chain feed stores do not feed poults properly while in their care. They may be suffering from the lack of necessary nutrients including lysine, methionine, niacin and thiamine and protein.
