Hi,

I have a 18 month old frizzle hen. For the last 2-3 months she has been loosing lots of feathers. Has been excessively preening, Has lost most of the feathers from her back, her wings, tail and vent. The vent area is almost completely bald.
And for last two, three weeks she seems very sleepy and tired, sitting down and sleeping every couple of hours.
And today she has been pooping clear liquid very often, about once an hour, and hasn't been eating her favorite treats.
I have not introduced any new chickens since last 6 months. There's no change in the diet or coop.

I am guessing this could be due to Mites infection? Since I haven't cleaned their coop in about 2 months.
But three other hens are absolutely fine.

What could be wrong? And how can I start treating her? Do I need to take her to the Vet for the clear liquid poop?

Mites are not an infection, they are an external parasite that suck you chickens blood. She’s probably becoming very anemic. Why haven’t you cleaned your coop? Bio security is very important. You will need to clean the coop thoroughly and spray it.

Just wanted to give an update. I did clean up the entire coop, dusted her with the poultry dust Permethrin. And sprayed her with a Mites and Lice spray for Poultry. So she has now stopped excessive preening.
But she's still very weak and sleepy. I did try to give ground red meat and scrambled eggs, but she does not eat them. In fact she's even lost her appetite now, eating only about 10% of her normal diet.

What else can I try to do to take care her anemia? What else can I try fo feed her?

The reason why I had not cleaned the coop, was because the three other chickens are doing just fine.

To stimulate her appetite, you might consider tube feeding her to get her over the hump. Is she drinking ok? Hydration is key.
