Hello all, I have a lethargic 8wk (almost 9wk) Cream legbar pulled that's been acting lethargic. She's always been the quiet one of the group, but I'm worried seeing her so sleepy and puffy. I've also noticed some bloody poo around the coop that I suspect is from one of my other 8 pullets...

I plan to start treating the whole flock with Corid, just in case it's coccidiosis, and I've given the pullet in question (Martha) B12 and some supplements- she's now in our bathroom with a heater and a friend. Any suggestions on further treatments for the flock or what may be wrong with the baby?

Can I see a picture of the poop? Have you felt her crop? When was the last time she laid an egg?

She's only about 9wks, so no eggs. Her crop is pretty much empty and she's not showing much intrest in any food. Hopefully the B12 kicks in soon so I can offer her some scrambled eggs.

Yeah, I would treat for coccidiosis asap. That can take out a whole flock before you can even blink. That's kinda what it looks like to me.

Yup. We've dealt with cocci before (it's actually how we got into chickens lol). Just wanted to confirm and to see if there were any other treatments/precautions I should take with the others. We already started them all on Corid

Prevention is the beat medicine, so addind a little corid to their water every now and then would be good!

No visible difference today... I have taken away the food for the night but her crop is still the size of a blueberry and squishy- no sour smell. Should I give her miconozole or acv?

Like I said before, I have them all on Corid, but my mom is suggesting penicillin to help treat the cocci... what should I do?

I'd definitely treat for coccidiosis. Any bird that is lethargic should also get a drench dose of Corid in addition to the Corid solution. Give by syringe .1ml-.2ml directly into the beak undiluted Corid once a day for three days in a row.

If all you have is penicillin, then use it. The blood in the stool indicates possible necrotic enteritis, an infection caused by coccidia inflaming the intestinal lining. This can be fatal if untreated.

Will do. What about the crop not going down?

I just felt her crop again, there feels to be 1 full corn kernel inside there along with whatever fluid surrounding it. I think this counts as impacted? I'm not sure. I am worried that it'll become sour though. What should I do to A) remove the kernel and B) prevent her from going sour?

I'm sorry for all the questions, I'm just kinda panicking... I've lost so many of my babies this year and I'm not sure if I could take another loss right now😔
