lethargic, purple comb, very sick chicken

Oh no, poor chicken! I hope she pulls through. Purple comb and lethargic could be signs of blood poisoning, or septicemia. My rooster had this, but not as bad, and my vet thought that that’s what it was. Luckily it wasn’t, I’m still not sure to this day what it was, and he still gets it sometimes. @TwoCrows explained something to me about like not enough blood getting to comb in large combed breeds. Maybe she can help here, but it really seems to be too bad to be lack of blood to comb. I hope she pulls through!

Poor baby. :hugs I am so sorry she is sick. She could be internally laying along with Ascites. Purple combs are usually an indication of circulatory issues, low blood pressure will always cause a blue or purple comb. She doesn't look good at all and probably won't make it too much longer. I am not sure you can do much for her at this point other keeping her comfortable. If its cold where you live, get her off the newspaper and bed her deep in warm bedding with a heat lamp on her. Sick and dying birds are generally very cold.

my flock dropped from 10 to 9 chickens last night. her last flail was to flap her wings, and then she fell back. for like ten minutes puke was streaming out of her beak. poor thing! at least she is not suffering anymore. i could tell she was miserable. we had a small funeral in the backyard. :hiti raised her since she was one day old. :hit

she was inside the house so should have been pretty warm. Before she was in a crate resting in the sun, and I took her out for the picture.
