Lethargic rir chicken help

I found my rir laying in the floor off the cool this morning. She is breathing heavily and won't open her eyes or stand up. I havnt found any wounds or lice/mites on her yet. Does anyone know what this could?

I'm very sorry that you lost her. Could she have been dehydrated from the hot summer temperatures? Had she been acting sick before? Was she laying eggs? How old was she? Unfortunately, there are so many different problems chickens can suffer from, and sometimes they will show slight symptoms for a day or two. It can be difficult to pinpoint an illness without a thorough examination, and even then it can be guesswork. If you still have her body, you may be able to refrigerate it in a plastic bag, and ship or take it to your state vet or local poultry lab for a necropsy tomorrow to find a cause of death.
