We have a small black Silkie chick that we got the other day when we picked some up day old. This chick is not growing as fast but was moving around and eating just fine yesterday. Today the chick is barely moving, we have given it boild egg yolk and vitamin water. She is back to not moving but breathing fine. Any ideas or am I overreacting?

I had one act like that. The hatchery I got her from said to give her some sugar water. It really brought her back to life. I just picked her up and stuck her beak in it. She drank a lot. I used about 3 tablespoons of warm water - and about 1/4 teaspoon of sugar..because I wanted to do it fast- but some one on here might can give you a correct ratio- Although it shouldn't hurt her if you only do it once or twice like I did.

We are trying that as we speak. She is completely limp, seems like she tries to get up but cant. When you hold her she has no muscle movement just chirps.

Oh . I am so sorry. I hope she responds. Have you checked her butt to see if she has a lot of dry poop blocking her from pooping? ( I am sure you have but I am just touching all the baby chick bases)

If she will not willingly drink, I hate to stress her but you may want to try opening her beak and using a small dropper.

She wouldn't drink by herself so we used a dropped and she jumped around a bit then went back to laying there not moving. I am willing to try anything. It looks like she is gasping not while laying there
