Hi guys, recently one of my chickens has been laying soft eggs basically every morning. Today, instead of going out to eat and drink in the morning, she just went straight to the nesting box and refused to eat. I figured that maybe she was just cold and tired. So, I gave her a couple hours then went to check on her, she seened fine, pecked around, pecked on me, the normal chicken buisness. But later today we found her hunched over, sleepy and with a floppy comb. So, immediately we took her inside and gave her 800 ml of calcium + vitamin D3. I gave her some food along with a boiled egg and she ate a good amount. I noticed she was trying to drink so I put nutri-drench + electrolytes in water and she drank a decent amount, then stopped.
Some information about Beaky:
-She turns 2 at the end of this month
-Black sex link
-Very small for her breed and light
-Has been laying soft eggs this whole winter.
After she stopped eating and drinking, we gave her more water by syringe. Then we put her in a dog crate and let her sleep. I so so soo regret not giving her the calcium this morning because I feel like if I did that this whole thing would have been avoided.
Anyways, its been 2 hours since we put her in the crate, I went to check on her and she had layed a soft egg, no yolk, no egg white, just the shell. I think she might have layed the yolk and white earlier in the run but either they ate it or I didnt see it. Either way, if was the whole shell. I took her out, gave her more water and decided that it probably wouldn't hurt if I give her half a baby asprin because she looks like she might be in a bit of pain. Now, I am just letting her sleep in hopes that this will pass over and she will be okay. Please, any other advice is so so so appreciated, thank you!!
