One of my silkie hens was acting strange yesterday and then today she was dead. I found her isolated last night from the flock and she seemed a bit off but I didn't think too much of it. She spent the entire day free ranging and acting fine. Had access to fresh water and two different feeds (Layer crumbles and a seed mix) Not all my chickens lay eggs so I dont know if she's been laying or not. Her age is probably 2-3 years old. No other noticeable symptoms.Tomorrow, I'm going to treat my flock for coccidiosis and administer electrolytes in their water. Does anyone know of anything else I could do to prevent this from happening again? Or exactly what caused her death?

The best way to know would be an autopsy. Necropsy in animals. Without more in depth information on many things there is no way to know what killed her. I mean we can all name 10 things that could have killed her and still not guess it right. Im sorry you lost her. :(
