This hen started acting strange about a week ago not very active and just sitting in the nesting box. She has pretty bad diarrhea. Not eating or drinking that I’ve noticed. I gave her nutri-drench orally several times but it hasn’t seemed to help. Any advice is appreciated.

I have quarantined her because I just witnessed all the other chickens basically jumping her and pecking at her while she was laying on the ground. I have given her electrolyte water and medicated chick feed. I have also ordered safeguard aquasol chicken dewormer for the whole flock.

When was her last egg?

She may be having some reproductive difficulties. I'd give her 300mg Calcium Citrate+D3 now, then once daily for 7 days to see if that makes a difference.

Work on hydration and see that she's eating. Medicated chick starter has a very small amount of Amprolium which is a Coccidiostat (not an antibiotic). If you feel she may be also suffering from Coccidiosis, then treat her with Corid (dosing below).

Aquasol will treat Roundworms only if they are part of the problem.

Any lice/mites? Keep her bottom cleaned up so flies don't lay eggs.

Liquid Corid dose is 2tsp or Powdered Corid Dose is 1 1/2tsp per gallon of water given for 5-7 days as the only source of drinking water.
Do not add any extra vitamins/electrolytes that contain B1(Thiamine) to food or water during the course of treatment.
