Lets compare feed prices please (Although I might not want to know LOL).

Purina game bird feed 30% cost me 22 + tax and can pick it up on my way to pick up my son. There are 4 feed stores with in 15 miles and the prices all seem about the same.

In California

Purina Gamebird chow any protein percentage. $23 w/tax

King pheasant crumble 28% $22 w/tax

Turkey starter 28% $20 w/tax

Chicken layer pellets for reference 15% protein $15 w. tax

Oyster shell $10 w/tax

All prices are 50lb bags.

Where can you get Turkey Starter 28% for $20, DC? Is it good for quails?

There's a warehouse operation in San Jose that sells Swanson Farms (Turlock) 26% for $20 and that's the cheapest I found in the area. Been using that. Chicken layer pellets for $14. BTW they say no tax for feeds!

The turkey starter I buy at HMB Feed and Fuel when they're out of gamebird chow but I'd be willing to be An Jan carries it. It contains all the important nutrition that gamembird chow does.

There is a feed store on Monterey road north of tully that carries waterfowl conditioner that is 20% protein and that works ok in a pinch too.

The problem with both turkey starter and waterfowl pellets is they need to be ground up a little because they're usually cylinder shaped pellets.

Went today to buy feed. HMB feed and fuel was out of GB chow so I went for turkey starter and flock raiser (20% protein, same mineral content as flight conditioner). They switched to purina turkey starter and the price is ridiculous. It was $26.99/50lbs.

So price update on purina turkey starter in CA--->$26.99

Crikey, at those prices my birds would be eating ramen noodles....
