Let's get to know each other's flocks better!!
This this is for BYC members and guests to get to each other and their flocks better, Part 1.

When I say "Part 1", I mean this is doing to be a serious of threads and polls. And this is the first one.

So, to begin, what species of poultry (and breeds of those different species) do you personally own? Comment down below!!:thumbsup Don't be shy!

We just bought our first batch of chickens back in April. We had bought 21, birds total, and only lost one. The poor baby had poo blocked on her behind and it actually got so bad she ended up blowing a hole in her side. I had tried to clean her up with warm compresses and gently rubbing her behind, since she still seemed to want to live, but we finally laid her to rest after days of fighting. We had to re-home two of our roos and a duck that were aggressive. We now have a total of 17 birds, 5 ducks, and 12 chickens. Let me try to remember all the breeds.....We have 1 light Brahma named Madi and 3 buff Brahmas named Coffee, Mocha, and Maple (the guy at the store mixed up when we wanted 2 of each, We have 2 Rhode island reds (my only roo is a rhode island red) they are named Linda and Houdini and we have 2 Orpingtons, named Honey and Mango, along with 4 golden laced Wyandottes named Chip, Moose, Karen, and Chicken Little. As for our ducks, we have two Pekins, Munchkin and Cletus, two Cayugas, Gus and Spice, and one Indian runner Pickles. We wanted two of each breed of ducks but there was only one Indian runner left at the store and we didnt want him to get lonely. I think I got them all lol so theres our flock!

Chickens, of course! 🤣 I also have just one Guinea and just one call duck left, but I didn't necessarily enjoy when I had multiples of them and will not be replenishing my flocks of either of them again. Guineas are, well, Guineas, and ducks are just way too much work and mess for me, especially in the wintertime. 😬

Chickens! 🐓 I looove chickens they are my babies! I cry every time we lose one. Btw I’m 15. We got our first batch back in I think 2012? There were 15 of them and we got super lucky with only one roo! I have now named all of my chickens We got 2 more batches at different times and have hatched our own but I don’t know the exact dates. We have six Bardrocks President, Squinty, Bitey, Buddy (who is a girl), Woormtail (who is also a girl), and nightmare. We also have two Orpingtons Crooked crown, and Daisy. We have two white Brahmas Olivia, and Lea. One California white (I think) named sunlight. And one black and grey chicken that I don’t know his breed but his name is Blackmare. Oh! almost forgot one Rhode Island Red named Mipha. Out of those 13 chickens two of them are roos. Squinty one of the bardrocks is from the first batch! She’s 9 years old!

And by the way we don't eat our chickens.
Me neither! They are definitely my babies!
