how many ventilation holes does it need?its not really air tight,i figure it probably is getting plenty of air.i will find out in a couple of days.

I agree. I made a homemade bator and I figured it would be okay because it wasn't air tight, but I don't think it had enough ventilation, so I drilled 30 holes, but I covered back up about 10 of them because it was having trouble holding humidity and temp. I just put a second fan in it too because I've got so many eggs in it the air wasn't circulating well. there was probably a 5 degree difference from the very bottom to the very top. you can't have too much fresh air unless it's not holding temp and humidity. for me, the balance was easy to see.
