I was driving down the road with my mom the other day, and we were a bit angered by the sheer amount of garbage that is just thrown out by the road and into creeks. So then we got the idea, what if we did something with all this garbage? We don't want to just stick it in a landfill, so why don't we find out what we can use, and make something out of it?! So I've been making plans to use all of these old tires, and I could use a lot of them!
I plan to:
Grow potatoes in them
Make dusting stations for chickens
Paint them, make flower pots
Make a tire swing
Make another tire swing
And who knows what else there is to come up with! My yard will be decorated with repurposed old tires!

People throw out so much, even old cabinets litter hillsides and forests where I live. It's disgusting and unacceptable!
Cabinets (after a good cleaning/disinfecting) can be used to make nesting boxes or brooders! Tires can be used tons of ways, scrap metal and wood can easily be reused or recycled, why would people litter like that?
So I need your help, BYC! I need you to share your ideas to reuse old junk as DIY projects. It could pertain to chickens, gardening, or anything! I will feature the best ones in my blog! I will be posting about this on it in the near future (if your idea is featured you will receive credit)!
Also, I need to think of a hashtag to promote it on social media! I've come up with a few, but I'm not sure about them.

What do you think? Have any cool projects you've done with junk? Please share! Pictures are awesome!

I plan for this to be the type of project that encourages everyone to do something, rather than one that asks for donations to pay someone else to do it! There will be no donation set up, just good ol' fashioned encouragement and hard work!

This is a great idea. Here's my 2 cents:

I am using 3 old tires for dust baths for my chickens.
Old refrigerators can be turned into giant coolers or incubators.
Stand up cheese graters make awesome pendant lights.
You can make practically anything with pallets.
Old doors make desks and tabletops.
You can plant in almost anything that holds water.

Thanks for the input!! Lights made of old cheese gaters sounds like a really cool idea, I may do that in my kitchen!
I've seen really good fridge incubators but I, personally, don't have a need to hatch 100 chicks at a time

I would love for someone to post their fridge incubator though! I'd have to have their permission to feature!

Chickie overload!

Would be very cool to see how it's made though.

It would be!
I just thought of another idea! I wonder if a hanging tire pot would do well for vining plants, like tomatoes. Remember those topsy-turvy infomercial things? Sort of like that, so the vines grow downward. Worth a try, right?

Oh and cardboard tubes, the heavy duty ones for shipping - if you wrap with jute, they make excellent cat scratch post toys.

*****the ideas are flowing now******

That's a good idea! hmm old carpet that people throw out could be used to make scratching posts too, after a good shampooing!
