Not my picture but an idea I love. I used tires in the garden all the time lots of different ways, they make great stackable composters, I have fruit trees with tires around the bases to protect them from weeds and getting hit with the Weedwhacker, tires of course also retain heat and this is a great use in the garden. I use them in the greenhouse to start cold sensitive plants a little bit earlier... it hit -8C once in my greenhouse, the corn I had planted in tires survived the peppers in my raised beds were all killed. I have a tire dust bath for my chickens. I've been trying to dream of a way to use tires as a foundation for my next chicken coop, or perhaps as a wall in the pen. Tires sure make great retaining walls so why not.
Old refrigerators can be turned into great smokehouses.... My compost bin is built out of seven pallets... I'm a big fan of junk. And that's because most of it isn't junk...
So so true! It is amazing what people through away these days!!
I'm a total minimalist, so I love to reuse stuff.
Steel cans can be used as feed scoops, and flower pots.
Old cloths can be turned in to rugs, quilts, etc.
Milk jugs can used as grit and oyster shell feeders, and to start seeds. (See this link: http://www.wintersown.org/wseo1/Plastic_Gallon_Jug.html)
Paper, cardboard, etc, can be shredded and composted or buried.
Glass peanut butter, salsa, etc, jars can be easily reused.
With a little creativity you can easily reduce your garbage by 75%.![]()
