Let's make a difference! I need YOUR help! (Contest details and discussion)

I like the boot flower pots shown on your blog, that's a great idea.

Looks like you're off to a good start @torilovessmiles !

Thanks! I just got some new rubber boots because my old ones leaked terribly, so I'm going to find even more old ones and make a boot garden

low raised beds in the foreground are old window frames, red ones in back and recycled plywood. The buckets where free from an ice-cream store, they are full of water so they retain heat, would work even better if there painted black, they are also handy flipped over seedlings, over night as second greenhouse. The branches I'm using for vertical growing are from thinning the trees selectively (red willow)around my creek. The frame was second hand, a steal at $500. the end walls are also made of salvaged material and painted with leftover paint. Behind the furthest low raised bed are two tires where the corn was planted. This year I will be adding tires at the base of each of my wider willow trellises for my squash.

oh and I almost forgot, rather than till or dig we laid down hundreds of recycled heavy duty tree boxes (wax coated boxes live tree seedling are packed in) over top of a bunch of hay, lawn clippings and chicken bedding, and put lumber wrap over it (the tarp/lumber wrap is from this giant roll we have that a lumber mill was getting rid of because they changed logos or something) we left it a year and put up the greenhouse. I cut holes in the tarp and planted through it the first year, pulled it out the second and it got used again for getting another garden ready.....

I've been kind of thinking a shed-type shape (more in my skill range haha) with plastic walls, and a bit smaller. I absolutely love yours though, very nice!
My chicken coop is built from an old playhouse, the doors, steps, ramp, etc. are made from scrap wood from a building that had been torn down before we moved in, but never removed. The only thing I had to buy was chicken wire, nails and screws! The chickens love it!
