Hello everyone! I am new here, well have been stalking for awhile and never posted. My daughter hatched her own eggs we have no idea the breeds they were randomly sent to us. They are now 5 weeks old. We understand its early and no way to know for sure, but we are curious what the breeds might be and if any are roos? We unfortunately can't have roosters so obviously hoping none are unless it's a mute rooster and no one will tell lol.
Yes I know some look hot, these pictures were taken after some outside time this morning in Phoenix and it's hot and muggy. Don't worry they have plenty to hydrate on and we're brought into a nice air conditioned room to relax. They might be slightly spoiled 🤣. The picture with the 4 grouped together we got when they were two weeks old and now they are 4 weeks old. Was told they are easter Eggers and the mini is a bantum egger. Didn't get individual of them this morning but will later.

We are excited to see what everyone thinks and to see if any were close to what we think from researching. 🤗

I believe Dip, Pecker & Mumble are Roos
I'd say the rest are pullets but I'm questionable on Popcorn.

I don't know that I can make an accurate guess at the last 4, they look too young right now. Just guessing I'd say all pullets for them but I'd update pics in a few weeks :)

Edit: meant to include Ginger in the definite roos! Sorry 😭

Dip looks like it may be a cockerel. Thinking Dominique?

Not sure on breed of Nugget, but thinking pullet for now.

Chip also looks pullet-like for now, but I’m not sure on breed.

Mumble looks maybe like a barred rock or cuckoo Maran possibly, but looks like a Cockerel.

Popcorn looks like a cockerel, maybe barred rock.

Ginger also looks like a cockerel, not sure on breed.

The last photo looks like Easter Eggers maybe, are they bantam? Not seeing any obvious cockerels there!

I know I said cockerel a lot, these are just my best guesses!

I missed Pecker and Cuddles. Oops!

I think Pecker is a cockerel and Cuddles is a pullet, both maybe barred rocks?

Welcome to BYC! Your chicks are beautiful!

The barred ones are probably olive eggers or cuckoo Marans crosses. I'm afraid you have a lot of cockerels. Ginger, Dip, Pecker, and Popcorn are definite cockerels. Mumble is likely a cockerel. Nugget is suspicious but not enough to say one way or the other, yet. That leaves Cuddles and Chip as probably pullets.

The younger birds in the last picture are too young to tell, yet, except the bantam, which is a pullet and probably an old English game bantam or a cross of that breed. The rest are Easter eggers.

Oh no my daughter is going to be heart broken. She loves them all heck I'm attached to them as well. No offense I hope everyone is wrong 🤪😩. (In sarcastic tone) Chip was her first baby after a very tramatizing first attempt at hatching with no hatches. Our incubator failed many times. We waited months to try again. We have always made it known that there is a chance that ALL could be cockerals but was still hoping for none. Thanks everyone for your guesses. Will be interesting to see who starts crowing 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣.

I feel like it's so hard to guess sex, what stands out the most to give you ideas. To me all feathers look the same shape lol. I know combs can all be different as well. It seems everything we search on the web, everyone has a slightly different way. Not on our chicks just general what we find trying to guess our own. What makes them stand out the most especially when colors are pretty identical like with 5 of ours. For those that have guessed ours what do you see compared to others in our bunch that makes them stand out? We are just trying to learn :)

I am no good at calling breed or sex, at this stage. I simply wanted to say...
This is the BEST site for all things chicken. I have found many answers on here, from the wonderful knowledge/experience, others are willing to share. I have been to ALOT of sites over the last year, and none compare. If I can't find an answer here, I will post a question, and it is quick to get answers. Welcome... You are in the right place.
