Let's play BOY or GIRL! UPDATED w/ side pic request

About the leg, it has happened to our chickens before. She is sick. The chicken will probably die, all of ours have. It happens when they are babies, but the leg doesn't start turning untill later. I don't remeber what it is called, but they told us there was nothing we could do for it.

Are you talking about Mareks? I just double checked and it is her left leg. I curse myself daily for not just buying from a hatchery and splitting with people on craigslist. I got these from someone who raises their own and doesn't vaccinate. It is still the same today, I'll watch her, but this really sucks, cause now my only girl is sick and I have 2 stinking roos, what luck.

I wouldn't give up on #2 yet. I had an easter egger that had a wider, redder pea comb (three rows) and such different coloring than our other two Easter eggers that we (and several BYC members) had guessed male when she was 7-8 weeks old, but now that she is 19 weeks old, it's pretty definite that she is female. Her coloring has changed a bit (looks more like the others), no roo tail feathers, she has rounded hackle feathers, and stands and acts like a hen. She hasn't started laying yet, but no crowing either.

I would repost your #2 chick's photos again at 4 months old if you're still not sure then

Well, this morning my BO, (which wasn't ever a question, but )LOL he crowed!

He is the rooster I was intending on keeping anyway. So far he's real sweet. Hope that doesn't change when he hits puberty.

Now not to beat a dead horse......but - he is a week younger than my EE's. He is right at 12 weeks I figure or about there. The EE's are a week older. I know you can't time a crow, one can dream and stay in denial right!

Still hoping my suspect EE isn't a roo and will never crow.

And, my lone pullet, her leg looks a bit better today. No progression, so keeping my fingers crossed. TY all!

I'm thinking cockerel, cockerel, pullet as well. The tail on the second isn't fully feathered yet, and it's already starting a very cockerel curve to it, and the coloring is too shiny for a pullet.

How does everyone know that first BO is a boy? (apart from the crowing?) I have a little Buff (sold to me as a female) that I'm concerned might be a boy. Any special clues I should be looking for? Please advise- she has the sweetest disposition of any creature I ever met.
