Let's play hen or roo Haha

I have 3 bantam cochins that I hatched, they just turned 3 weeks old. I've read a lot about color of combs etc. but I thought it would be fun to talk to some of you about the differences I'm seeing and get your thoughts. I know it is a bit early.

The two black ones (I will label them cochin 2&3 in pics) are developing more chest, back, and shoulder feathers than the grey one (I'll label s/he cochin 1). Cochin 1 also doesn't have as long wing feathers as the other two.

Combs are yellow/orange. Sometimes I think cochin 1 is slightly pinker. All are showing the beginnings of wattle development.

I really appreciate anyone who takes the time <3

All I can tell is, they're beautiful chicks! On a more serious note though, Cochins are a slow feathering breed so the feather growth is not a good indicator of anything gender related. Post back in 5 weeks or so amd maybe we'll be able to tell more then! Super cute chicks. Just for fun, I'll guess one and two are pullets, and three is a cockerel. Those are totally guesses though, 😂

Thanks haha I noticed that compared to my silkies they are taking FOREVER to feather and grow. But that just means they fit in my hand for snuggles longer :)

I found a website where someone studied a bunch of their cochins growth over time and they found that the males feathered out slower. I'll attach a photo of the results of their study. I just thought maybe there's merrit, someone else may have noticed similar things. If there is any merrit I think cochin 1 is a roo...

And thanks, they're so cute I love them so much. I attached a photo for cuteness as well, cochin 1 fell asleep and we put a biker helmet on him 😂
