Lets see your "Breeding Pens"

I know this thread was made quite awhile ago, but I'm also looking for some breeding pen ideas too. Does anyone else have some?

I have a single that is similar to this design. Plan to build each coop separate with doors all on same side for easy access and standardized design.

I make coops that are 8x12 with the roof slanted toward one end. The back 4 ft (long way) is enclosed with plywood on three sides. that's where the roost is, which is about 4 feet wide. Then on the other side, a four compartment nest box facing toward the roost.

This size coop seems to be sufficient for up to 12 chickens depending on size. (I currently have 10 Brown Leghorns in the one coop like this that I have.

I'm trying to separate a roo and two of his hens. would this crate work? has anyone used one of these as temporary breeding pens or cages to hold them in? and I guess I would add an extension for them to lay eggs in.

Hi :) I love your breeding pen! I am newer to chickens, can I ask you when you separate into breeding groups, what do you do with the roosters at the end?
I have heard different things, but that once you take a rooster out of the roo group, to but him back in can be disastrous. We are building our coops this summer, so trying to figure out what I need to plan!
