Ohhhh I had no idea they were from a showDon't have any. But recently learned about them
(As in...literally yesterday. I'm like a year late? It was a video that was reviewing the craze and how it happened)
I thought they looked familiar... and yup. Seen them in the back of videos in the past (travel/food type videos).
Apparently they were characters from a series like a decade ago
But it took "celebrities and influencers" and the internet to make them have a sudden... explosion now.
And that means there's people taking advantage of the rage.
The clips I've seen of people going insane over them, I'm not sure how much of that is intentionally manufactured (there's no way nobody is getting money for "promoting" them, right? Plus... social media is all about pretending...) And how much of it is just a mob mentality where they're excited because everybody is excited and it gets out of control.
I'm sure some people do genuinely love them, and would have loved them WITHOUT all the artificial hype. And they will be the people who genuinely love the characters after they're "no longer popular toys".
Nothing wrong with collecting toys or objects. As long as it isn't hurting anybody. (And they aren't just throwing them out when they're bored.)
I have a few things I wanted to collect.
I had a rock collection. (They were literally whatever rock I found on the family farm in the gravel. I'd wash them before they came in the house. They were in my room, on a shelf or windowsill.) Occasionally got gifted a rock.
Somebody decided it was a stupid hobby and when I was at school, they went to my room and took ALL my rocks and threw them out.
... don't be that type of person, people.
Just let somebody enjoy their hobby if it isn't causing any harm.
Anyway... I could see myself having liked them a few years ago. But the craziness surrounding them isn't appealing to me.
There are other things I'd collect. Though usually just 1 or 2 of something that I really wanted.
Like those weird stuffed animals that make a scary face when you push a switch. I thought those were hilarious and still think of them occasionally.
