We built an 8x12 woods coop last spring for ten hens and now I'd like to add a run.
I'm looking to get ideas and see how you've attached the run to the coop to make it secure and aesthetically pleasing.

Great choice in coop design. You should post some build photos.
I don't have an enclosed run. Mine opens into a large fenced yard. They like to hang out in the old hoop coop shelter.
Are you wanting a large run to keep them enclosed all the time or will they have access outside the run if not on lockdown? There is a pic on here somewhere of a light blue woods coop with an attached run on the front.

Thanks! I actually used your design! I'm organizing my old photos and will post some build pics soon.
I would only have the run available during the day, they'd still be confined to the coop at night. I was thinking of having a multi section run so that I could rotate areas as they get bare.

This article has a couple of pictures with attached runs.

Seems like you might want something larger. That coop will hold 24 birds.
My permanent yard off the coop is about 50x50. And I have 200' of electric net that I can move around a bit. Even with 2-3 areas to use they clean it off pretty quick and it doesn't grow back in the summer without putting a sprinkler on it.

Question about your electric net you move around. What brand is it and could you post pics of it? I'm looking to buy a movable fence for our girls. It will keep them from trashing our landscaping AND our neighbors LOL. It's only funny a few times before they grow tired of our crashers

The main yard is fenced with 4' high 2x4 welded wire and another 3 feet of garden poly fence above that. If they are confined in a smaller area they will fly over a 4' fence. I still have a couple that will clear the 7' fence occasionally.

I use the Premier1, 48' tall permanet. It's the one with the thicker posts. My ground is really uneven and mostly sloped. I use metal t-posts at the corners, I slip a length of pvc over to insulate. I have 2, 100' rolls. With a large area and enough fresh ground to scratch they don't seem to interested in escaping. After a while they get bored and it's time to move the fence. I currently have 20 chickens.

It's pricey at $2 a foot. But a permanent fence costs about the same once you buy and install posts and not really movable like electric.

This may not be what you want. I based my coop design of a Wood's coop but we are sub~tropical so it is heat, not cold, I have to worry about. Nor do I have predators. The coop & run are a single unit. At present I have no doors on the front though we do have some ready to hang if we decide we need them & 2' of ventilation above the top roost. I have 3 roosts stretched across the full length of the coop so all the floor space is available & the nesting boxes out the back. We have had several weeks of autumn storms & wind since the girls have been in their new digs & I have checked regularly to ensure the coop is working as I wanted it to. No rain is coming in & the air is still inside the coop; no ruffling feathers on anyone. I have 12 chooks but could comfortably hold more.
