Let's share our chicken decor!

How cool! That's the kind of stuff that makes me wish I could crochet.

Nice of your friend to give you that @sunflour !

A friend of mine gave me this last week.

An old handmade thimble holder pin cushion:

that is fabulous!...love it

@vintagegem thanks.

@NorthFLChick this is tatting ( spelling?) really tiny type of crochet old timers used to do. I can crochet, but it would drive me crazy to do this tiny type. This little chicken is only about 3 inches long. I cannot imagine how vintage women had time to do these things…

guess with no television or BYC they had plenty of time :)

Oh, tatting. Ok, like how lace is made.

I know what you mean about the fine detail work people used to do. Mom once told me about a woman she knew that crocheted an entire bed spread out of black sewing thread during the Depression because she couldn't afford the normal thicker stuff.

@enola thanks for correction.

I always thought the really small crochet was tatting. What's the difference, would love to know. Maybe everything I have called tatting is really crochet?

And please don't get under that chair…we're all friends here.

Can you imagine how long that had to take? But bet she was really proud of it when she got it done.
