Hen pound cake turned out quite well, except she got her tail feathers in a dizzy coming out of the pan and it fell off

- added tooth picks for the pic

Should have removed only 1/2 of the mold and let the other half sit some more time before totally removing the mold. Will definitely wait till totally cool to clean up the edges.

Good job!

Love it, so cute, you should decorate it and enter it in that Easter thing I saw, NorthFLChick entered her armadillo in it I believe. I would enjoy eating that chicken.

Thanks, but already posted 2 entries - and don't think it could compare to the Hen Cake posted there today.

If you haven't followed the contest, check it out, there are so many good ones posted thus far.

And @oldhenlikesdogs why don't you do an entry?

How Cool!

Good job!

Thanks, it was loads of fun to bake - got strawberries and whip cream to eat with it. This is an almond flavored pound cake I found on line for this companies molds.
Didn't read the end of the recipe until after the tail fell off

It said to let get Totally Cool before taking the mold off...

Somehow mixed the info up with a recipe I found elsewhere to let it cool 15 minutes - had to hold that gal with potholders for the removal.

Anyway, once cool, the joint spillage scraped off easily with a knife. But none of my cake domes are tall enough, so have her in a "chicken cage" = AKA Bread keeper...

And got a hankering to start collecting these cake molds....so someone please talk me out of it.
