My goats have plenty of room its just Joyce is like the mafia. All the other goats are scared of her. She doesn't want to be petted but she doesn't want me to pet any of the other goats either. The other goats will wait until she walks away before they will come up to me. I keep telling her I'm gonna butcher her if she doesn't stop picking on everyone. Here she is.
I have a bully too. She is so nice when I'm right there with them. When I'm not right in the pen with them, she picks on my milkers. I don't know how to post video, but its pretty amazing to watch her bully just the milkers! I tell her the same thing. If she doesn't quit, I'll butcher her.
Reality is, I can't butcher a $300 registered goat because she is making me mad by bullying. She needs to give me babies and milk first ;-)
They are for milking. We have a farm with tons of property, and we have a house in a subdivision. My husband lives on the farm, and I live in the subdivision. He can't milk, so the goats are in the subdivision with me at the moment.
My special needs daughter needs the goat milk...
Wow $300 for one. Mine aren't registered. They have been such a big help to me. It would have been back breaking to clear all the vines. I wish I had a before picture.
My daughter was born with a host of medical conditions. She is 5 years old now, but still has problems. The fluid on her brain caused some developmental delays. She has a hard time swallowing and digesting what she eats. She had a feeding tube for a while, but she does not right now. She has a special formula that has the proteins already broken down so she can digest them easier. Normal food just sits in her stomach undigested. Formula costs me $400 a month after my health insurance pays their share. Even with this formula, she began throwing up again back in July. Someone suggested goat milk which is easier to digest then cow milk. So we tried it, and it worked!!! She has been doing great on RAW goat milk. So, now we have 2 doe in milk, 3 pregnant, and one who will be bred next month.
After reading out of desperation, goat milk most closely resembles human breast milk.
I pumped and tube fed my milk for almost 2 years until she stopped gaining weight. They tested my milk, and the calorie content dropped to below 16 calories per ounce. This is when I was told I had to stop giving her my milk (which she digested without problems) and start her on formula. This is where she started throwing up 4x a day. We started her on the special broken down protein formula and the throwing up improved, but didnt go away. With the goat milk, she doesn't get sick at all.
