Lets talk about goats!

Chaos anything at my house can be eaten. Under the right circumstances.lol I don't mind eating them. And had plans this year of doing a couple of bbq's with goat until the coyotes, or Mt. Lion beat me to it last winter. Do you have any recipes? They are also for getting rid of vegetation here. Yet multi functional.

No recipes yet, no goats yet either.

It probably won't be until spring next year when I can get them as I need to afford fencing for them first.

Get the book Raising Meat Goats for Profit by Gail Bowman. There is a whole chapter devoted to recipes for goat. Here is one I have tried and it is very good. It is also easy. The recipe is for a crowd so you probably will have to reduce it. That's not hard to do. I mean, I did it.

30 - 40 goat chops
52 oz bottle of Bulls Eye or other BBQ sauce
1 can Coke or Pepsi
About 4 shakes of Tobasco
A large throw away turkey roasting pan.

Arrange chops two layers deep in roasting pan. Mix together the entire bottle of BBQ sauce, Coke or Pepsi, and tobasco sauce. Pour sauce over chops. Cover with aluminum foil. Bake in 300 oven for about two hours, or until chops are done. The meat should come off the bone easily. Carefully remove from the oven, pour off some of the liquid, and serve with potato salad, chips, etc.

Thanks. That's easy and sounds delicious. I like both. I got my goats to make more clean pasture for the horses. But with the intent of having a couple of big bbq's a year with the whethers and inviting all the neighbors.

I amazon about once a year. If you don't go back very far. Then it'd drop. I'm currently unemployed or I'd never have found this website. If I can't find it in town I'll check amazon.

You might also try caprinesupply.com. They have a wonderful catalog and offer quite a few goat books. They may have this one. In fact, I think that is where I bought my copy. It has been so many years ago I really don't remember for sure.
