Lets talk about goats!

Hey thanks for pointing this thread out to me Mr. MKK Farms!

Hey everyone! I came here because I love to chat about goats! We currently have two Boer goat wethers that are just our pets. I would love to get two Boer does and breed them eventually (I would use another breeders buck because I'm not interested in owning a buck right now) and I'm thinking about getting two Myotonic (Fainting) wethers to just have as pets as well. Here are some pics of my boys:

This is Elliot! He doesn't like to do much besides just follow me around like a dog. :p

This is Boog! He loves jumping and running and is super sweet!

I saw some good stock and I sold my billy. I bid but I think two of the professional buyers were rigging the bidding. So I bid the price up to my limit and quit bidding. If they were trying to cheat me they had to eat it. I am going to another auction Monday and they also have another one Saturday. I want a decent price so I am willing to wait. I also saw neither buyer or seller at either the buyer or seller window after the sale. Something was amiss.

It wouldn't surprise me if they were doing that, goat people can be extremely competitive; even at small, little open class shows.

I have goats and have had them for about 6 years. We are not breeding anymore. Once we butcher them all we are done with there pain in the butts. We just gonna keep breeding our sheep. Baby goats are funny and cute cause they climb on everything and run around like little kids, no pun intended. Bit when there mature there a pain in the ***. They will constantly pick on your sheep and eat ur trees. I had one play trampoline on my hood and roof of my car and truck and they like to headbutt your *** if you turn around and not pay attention. I did have a very friendly castrayed goat that acted like a dog and would play with u and I actually put a collar on hi. And walk him like a dog bit he was so friendly he would walk up to people and dogs and fallow u around and play and one day grazing he disappeared so either a dog killed him or someone stole him cause he would be so gentle and take he would probably fallow u to you slaughter house and try to rub his belly on your knife for a belly rub. Now they are good if you have alot of land that's got shrubs and crap nothing else wants to eat but if you have nice trees or any tree they will eat it. Fence or no fence tjey will eventually tear it down, go under it, climb it to eat the leafs, the bark and the branches. Had one goat actually ram one of my sheep in the pen at night and killed it. I butchered the sheep afterwards and it was apart the goat was doing it for awhile cause two of the ribs were broken clean and the ribs were heavily bruises and clotted. If u starting a goat or if they chase they will run all over the place and not where u wanna but being pray animals just like sheep it's expected. Also goats tend to be alpha in a mixed flock of goats and sheep and ur sheep will fallow the goats so that means they all will be going long distance if there not much roughage around. Sheep prefer grass and as long as there's grass won't travel to far and are more calm, less aggressive and kinda aloof. There alot like eeior from Winnie the pop. Just graze and seem kinda stoned.
