That makes sense Don as my White came from 2 Cuckoos my understanding is that there are very few dominate Whites in the Marans....
Thanks everybody for posting I was feeling left out as I started with Cuckoos first...

So breeding 2 cuckoos together will produce a white? Does this happen often or is it a once in awhile occurance?

I think this thread will gain popularity as there seems to be in increase in interest in the Cuckoo birds.... I will post a picture of an egg by my gal.. she was hatched by me from a fellow that used a Kelly Cratty line Donna Gherke bird over a Bev Davis Black Copper hen and the result was this hen... That is my understanding anyway... could be the roo was davis and the hens were barred... Can't rmember... It was a long time ago... I only ended up with barred birds with some gold on them... So you experts tell me how it went... The egg color he had was spectacular... and this hen lays a fabulously spotted egg... She is VERY HUSKY. Offspring from her would be meaty... I just have her in my layer pen.....

Thanks for starting this one. I am still learning the lingo. I studied human genectis not chicken!

Geebs~I have a blue hen that throws banties form time to time. I was selling them until one of my banty hens won an egg show!!

The last one I sold was a black copper the egg she laid is on the right. The other egg is from my old dinosaur blue hen I think she is 4 or 5 now.

The banty bred with the smaller silver cuc roo I have and produced a littie dark cucu pullet (i think). I will try to post a picture of her with her hatchmates.

Thanks for the explanation on the barring Bev. I knew how much my roo had him in him but not the correct term. Also thanks again for the reference on the Whites eggs. I have them set now.

I am still working on getting a small enough male... I have some small hens We will see how these barred ones develop.. Nice egg color... I could use that... really... We should collaberate.

Human genetics... GEEK!!! love it!!! you probably understand more of it than I do.... I still have to use a translator...

Yeah I am a BIG OL GEEK.

Here is the one that came from that egg on the right. She was hatched the same day as this bl cop pullet.

I suppose it could be a roo the comb is looking bigger now. It is certaily smaller than its hatchmates. It had a few leg feathers but they all seem to be gone now. The hen that laid the egg was the same way.
