I'm still trying with the golden cuckoos. I picked 3 boys out of the dozen or so I hatched this spring, but this is my only decent girl so far. And she's clean legged

Is that from my eggs? She looks good too bad about the nonfeather legs.

I had some really great lookers growing out but lost the whole lot and all the rest of this years grow outs to dogs. So I only have 3 nice hens and 2 roos growing out.

Do you have a side shot of her? Love the width of her chest, she looks chunky. Good thing is she has the feather legged gene in her. Are any of the roos feathered?

Sorry to hear about your losses

as for leg feathering I crossed a non-feather legged cuckoo hen with a feather legged cuckoo rooster and the 4 babies that we hatched had varing amounts of feathers on their legs- noticed that the boys had more leg feathers than the girls so it will probably take several generations to get a nice amount of leg feathers.

Yeah- the feathered legs are pretty easy to correct, so I won't worry about it too much. Its sure better getting them than trying to get rid of 'em!

Thanks Raven1! These 2 are just a test hatch to make sure the male isn't carrying any genes that would throw a carnation comb- the 2 hens he is with are showing this type of comb. If the next 5 months don't show any signs of it then I will continue with my project.
