Let's talk Cuckoo and WHITE marans... breeding strategies...

Well I ended up with 2 golden cuckoo marans Chicks 1 hen and 1 rooster. It is amazing how easy it is to tell the gender at hatch! Really a fun breed

and so far I have 5 regular cuckoo Chicks. Not the best hatches but with shipped eggs I'm always glad to get at least 1 chick. I'll try an add photos later

this may be a silly question, but I have read a lot of controversial info, and I'm starting to have my doubts, so here it is: When my gold cuckoo pair are adults, will they produce gold cuckoo offspring?

I got a pullet egg from my new batch of cuckoos and it was a pretty even color of a 5

not spotted like my hens. So EXCITED to see a pretty egg and nice color. Looked more like one of my Copper Marans eggs. Can't wait to see what the others will lay

not 100% of the time on most lines lol... i know that is not the answer u where looking for... best thing to do is hatch a bunch of chicks and see what u get...

I am not sure what you have read, I don't breed GCM.... but I would think they would breed GCM. I have hatched some. I kept one that hatched SOLID black NO spot.... JUST BLACK. Her barring and gold did show up after a few months. She looked like a reg cuckoo up till about 2 months I think......

I am not sure what you have read, I don't breed GCM.... but I would think they would breed GCM. I have hatched some. I kept one that hatched SOLID black NO spot.... JUST BLACK. Her barring and gold did show up after a few months. She looked like a reg cuckoo up till about 2 months I think......

Hi

It will depend on what genes the parents are carrying. If the female is carrying gold and the male two sets of genes for gold then you will get golden cuckoo. However, if the male is carrying one set of genes for silver and one set for gold then you could get some cuckoo and some golden cuckoo.
