Let's talk Cuckoo and WHITE marans... breeding strategies...

These 3 are all clean legged, but I have those others due in a few days. Its so easy to get them, that's the least of my worries. These chicks are huge!

I do love the size on the chicks I am getting out of this roo. I am gettng both feathered and non-feathered just kinda wondering what you got, not my biggest concern either but by this time next year all my GCM's will be feathered.

Becky- if this hatch goes well do you want a few of the GC chicks from NC? I haven't been able to see in them, so I just put them all in lockdown and am hoping for the best

Anyway- I have to deliver some other birds over Cookeville way after the 10th so just let me know

Well my hatch from those NC Braden golden cuckoos was quite dissappointing

1/2 the eggs were clear, and the others were late and shrinkwrapped. So- I ended up with 3 chicks. The coloring is crazy on them.

Becky- if I end up with at least 2 girls in this bunch you can have one. I am already thinking the one with the big white back/butt is a lil roo.

Wow Amy, those are some crazy colors!!

If you ever end up over this way (in the near future) I do have some gold cuckoo's in the brooders. I have two gorgeous double barred males and only going to keep one, also have several girls in the group along with one or two single barred cockerels.

I know that gold's are still somewhat a project color but I got much more consistent coloring in my hatches.

I know, right?!?!
Every time I hatch them I get something different.

I am scaling back on my blue copper pen for next year, so I will have bunch of space for the GC projects. I'd like to have 3 roos from different lines, so its a possibility. Going to be in Greenville, SC for a week next spring and I will probably need to escape for a couple hours so if you still have something available then.....

My father is going to be watching the farm while we go, and he isn't very mobile, so I am trying to get all the baby chick stuff out of the way now. The less he has to do, the better.

You guys up north are making me crazy with all your talk about having lots of GCMs in the brooder and so on! I hatched eggs from pasofinofarm last spring (2010) and ended up with 3 roosters! Since the hatch on the shipped eggs was so poor, I was hoping to get chicks or eggs within driving distance to get some pullets to go with the gorgeous boys I have! I'm hoping for flagardengirl to come through with eggs/chicks in the spring!

Nice size on those babies but coloring is ....odd. May turn out to be just beautiful who knows right. Sure I am always interested in any chicks especially pullets!
