man the white cockerel is gorgeous .

I love every thing about that cockerel .
nice clear white .
lighter shank colors
love his back and tail .

How come no body is taking him .they must be blind .
those day if it is not Black copper than is not attractive to people ..

I love all my marans and I can not see my self not having all the marans varieties ,the one they all ready exist and the one I m going to bring them to existance
Silver Wheaten ( I had the F2 swap them for a Silver cuckoo from good imported blood line plus a blue wheaten too .
Silver barred wheaten still have a F2 Double barred cockerels .swaped his sister with a good Wheaten rooster
Columbian
lemon buff .
and the Golden Golden Cuckoo marans.

The white cockeral is an Olive egger, so I guess he is less desirable. I know the white ones are a target for hawks around here as well.

they look like they father .

I like the barring of the doubled barred But I like the golden from the single barred cockerel .

must be some thing else you F0 rooster is carrying with a Barring genes .
the double barring is behaving like the Blue genes diluting the Golden .

will be very interesting to see how a future Double barred Blue golden will look like . rich golden OR lighter Golden

by the way I like the recessive white cockerel .great long back and nice body type .
love the white on him .
shame I m so far from you other way I ll driving to see you and pick them all up .

you have nice cockerels my friend .

I think he will continue to gold up. He seems to be getting more and more gold on him. He originally started looking like a plain cuckoo. He's only 6 months old now, so he's still got a lot of growing to do.

I am new to the breed and wondering if anyone could answer a few questions about the birds i have. I seem to have a good starting point great leg color and eye color body type seems good i only have one concern really. I have two that look as though they should be cockerels and the color as chicks one was for sure cockerel the second could go both ways, well they are almost 29 weeks and neither are showing the normal signs of being cockerels i am used to with all my other breeds at this age. Is this normal?

No.
At 29 weeks it will be obvious if they are cockerels. Can you post photos?

This is I know for sure a hen

this is a hen as well

This is one of the cockerels in ?

same picture of the bird abovehen

Second cockerel in? This one at this time is the only one to have waddles but even then hens combs are starting to develop. But body wise they look alike hens vs roos, so im not sure if I have all hens or late blooming roosters. I sure am hoping for the second one as It will be so hard to find these in my area.

They all appear to be hens to me, they are just redding up their faces and combs when they reach laying age. At 1 month old you can usually tell marans cockerals from the pullets. Their combs are much bigger and red. Mine start crowing at around 5 months of age as well. These guys in this pic are all about 6 months old, close to the age of yours:

I checked my records, and the f2 double barred is the son of my F1 rooster over my F1 hen, so the F0 is his grandfather.

The rooster on the right. He has the elongated blade as well, he just sliced the lower half off on chicken wire.

The F2 for comparison:

Too bad you aren't close to me, I'd give you some cockerals, I've got close to 15 now.
