Let's talk Golden Cuckoo Marans!

Pics
The GCM hens do not have good egg color, the cross does have good egg color. The black one was a pullet. I got rid of the ones that looked like cuckoo marans cockerels, so I probably acted too quickly there.

The hens you got from the cross are proper GCMs, so if you cross the over colored cockeral to the under colored pullets, it will tend to balance it out. Make sure that you keep the lighter double barred males though, ir you'll keep ending up with the darker males and black pullets.

From what I can tell on the chicken calculator, half of the BCM females will be "pure" BCM and the others will be slightly "off".

If you really want to see a cool golden splash, cross the GCM male with a blue copper, then cross the golden blue barred. You end up with golden splashes.

Hi Morbius18 the cuckoo Splash is possible Silver or Golden ( ghost like pattern) never seen this color type.

The Black copper pullets come from the Gcuckoo crosses are BCM..
her the Marans ER genetic family
1) Gold ER/ER.s+/s+ -
-BCM
- Blue CM
-Sp CM
-Cuckoo M
So the BCM hen is a Golden hen without a B Barring gene Or a Golden Cu hen is a Black Copper hen with added B Barring. There is not any pollution here just selection. Because the Barring B gene is dominant even with a single dose . So if we can see t than it s not there ( not recessive same like the BI Blue gene).

2) Silver ER/ER S/S
- Birchen
-- Blue Birchen
-Splash Birchen
-Cuckoo

they all could be worked together as long as we stay in the same family.

The Splash are not Good for crossing Because they don t display the color pattern of the variety. like you breeding blind.

I was playing with the chicken calculator one day and accidentally 'discovered' the golden splashes. I've also not seen any that color.

It makes sense that they would be BCMs as they are all ER based birds.

It was a nice spring like day here, I got some good photos of my F1s.
