I haven't been here in a bit, garden season is in full swing, so I'm really busy. I've hatched a good batch of my GCM over the blue copper hen. They ate only a week or so old now.

I also snapped a pic of one of the chicks that had the brownish face when hatched. Hes an interesting color:

very interesting chick ,let see if his hackle is lighter or darker? I ll speculate will be darker more toward a copper . just guessing if the eb (dark face ) has an affect on the copper?

nice to see how he ll turn up/

thanks for posting and sharing your work with us.

good luck.

He is quite a bit bigger than his hatch mate, I think they are around 4 months.

She looks really similar to my golden cuckoo marans buff orpington cross:

She appears to be e+ (duckwing) based because of the salmon chest. The leg feathering is good, I also see a white wing feather, which for show purposes is a fault. I have a few pop up with that as well, I try not to use them in my breeding though. My birds are ER (birchen crow wing) based. They only have gold necks, with the body color being cuckoo. There is no set standard in the US for this breed, so both types are present. I prefer the ER based ones for only the gold necks, but thats just what I like better. She looks good and healthy, and looks like a good e+ hen.

I have a few odd ones out of this latest hatch. I put them under 2 of my broodies. They are F0 GCM rooster over F1 GCM hen, F0 GCM rooster over my blue copper, F1 single barred GCM rooster over F1 GCM hen and F1 GCM single barred rooster over F1 golden cuckoo olive egger. Since the broodies hatched them, and they seem to migrate from mother to mother, I lost track of which is which. I have an odd brown one, some with brown face and more of the black ones:

Looking back, I should have separated the F0 over Blue copper hen to ID the males from that crossing. Although the blue crosses seem to have darker toes, feet and beaks.
