I'm thinking of hanging on to this single barred young rooster. He's the sibling to the double barred f2. I've noticed that the ones that are slow to gold up have more straw colored hackles. I prefer that over the red color that the other single barred ones have.

I like this one Morbius 18 . he is absolutely stunning .
great type and nice posture .

I think the red colored hackle and shoulder look nicer than the golden one. each of us has it oun test ,

the standard does not specify witch tone to breed for .all accepted ( from the darker shade to the lighter one)

I checked my records, and the f2 double barred is the son of my F1 rooster over my F1 hen, so the F0 is his grandfather.

The rooster on the right. He has the elongated blade as well, he just sliced the lower half off on chicken wire.



The F2 for comparison:

he is a true Double barred Golden cuckoo .free from any recessive genes . that is telling me that your F0 is a true breeder .

I have one silver cuckoo F2 double barred like yours come out of the F1 mating . he is a true F2 . pure silver no sigh of any Gold or any thing else . a true Silver cuckoo .

he is growing it noe and look nice to me so far .


his brothers are all single barred Silver/Golden .

My F2s sire had really light gold, especially for a single barred rooster from a black copper pairing.

I've been selecting the lighter ones, so they keep showing up: F2 from pairing with f1s, single barred, although he is still a litthe too much copper for me:

I guess my F0 really is light straw colored:

I've yet to have any silvers show up in roosters, I get a hen occasionally with no gold. This guy came from either my F1 over F1 or my F0 over the blue copper hen. I don't know what to call this, he has a salmon breast, but there is some lacing or something showing:

I really like the lacing or barring he is showing. On a side note, I've been able to breed leg feathering into my olive eggers. I crossed my F0 GCM rooster to an F3 black copper olive egger pictured below:

She displays a few random feathers. The chicks from this pairing were split with olive eggers with pea combs and marans appearing birds with straight combs and light leg feathering. One of the Olive egger cockeral:

Hopefully this spring, I'll be able to focus on a few more lines. I've got a nice splash marans pair and a nice blue copper marans pair. I got a blue and splash ameracauna as well. I plan on using the splash hens to throw all blue barred birds when paired with my F0 GCM. So, blue barred marans and blue barred olive eggers. I really like blues, So I might play around with the blue coppers as well. How old are the two roosters you posted? Judging by spurs, under a year or so. I like the build of the dark one. I really like birds with some bulk to them. It's a shame we aren't in the same country, I'd love to share birds with you.

Not really GCM related, but the hens are REALLY enjoying the new place. I'm busy rebuilding the deck in the house, and have been letting them free range until I can set up some fencing around the house to keep them out of people space. They have been cleaning the flower bed out for me:

they are doing a same in new place .
we are on the same stage ,except you are ending the breeding season and I m starting it.

this tuesday I m going to pen the breeders ,it is time to hatch some chicks .

I like the Golden on this one . nice orange/red shoulders .true Autossomal Red type.

the standard does not specify any tone about the golden color .
the standard only say ,the rooster should have a lighter hackle compared to a hen , Because of the double baring gene.

He is a Golden cuckoo for sure .
the cuckoo gene is organic pattern NOT like the barring gene well defined .

he look to me ,he is out of the F1 X F1 . like we said before your F0 rooster does curries some extra genes .

I have a F2 Silver wheaten come from F1 X F1 .he is laced . all his brothers are barred except him .
