Let's talk Golden Cuckoo Marans!

Pics
Thanks for the compliments. I look forward to this coming breeding season with the blue golden cuckoo marans as well as some pullets that came from my F0 over the blue copper hen. They are black, but hopefully will suprise me with some dark eggs.

what do you mean about a black pullet come out of your F0 GC over a Blue copper . all the progeny should be single barred if not some thing is not alright .

OR you mean they are Black cuckoo not Blue cuckoo ?

today i let Shamrock and his Blue coppers hens out free ranging ,

I m rotating a day out for them .yesterday was my F1 cuckoos out .

I m well happy with this 2 pens how they are going and the progeny I m expecting .

I m getting nice large dark eggs from this 2 pens even we are here in a middle of the spring . So I m expecting some healthy chicks .

I like the blue coppers, probably one of my favorite colors.

Ah that what I thought . black barred .
because is not possible ,your F0 proven to be double barred DF . I couldn t understand where the black pullets come from .

a good Blue Golden cuckoo single barred cockerel will be your quest from this crossing ,so you can mate him back to his mom to get F2 Golden cuckoo Blue and black from your Blue copper hen

you want to capture the eggs dark gene she posses .through her son /grand son .

I do have this guy, the single barred blue golden cuckoo. By Feb/Mar he should be mature enough to see how he turns out.

I like the blue coppers, probably one of my favorite colors.

the Blue color is the hardest one to maintain . when is well selected is stunning color - a Blue pigeon breast color with a darker lacing .

I scored a Blue wheaten cockerel 2 weeks ago ,his blue is stunning . have a look on the international black copper thread .handsome blue cockerel .

my Blue copper are all over the place and I think the Silver cuckoo ( with a gold leakage) will help me to fix the blue color and darken the under fluff or the down .

silver cuckoo have a nice light gray down free from any white or light fluff .

we ll know about 3 month time .

Wow can not be greater than his Morbius 18 .

you achieved greatness with your Golden cuckoo marans .

your hen is as gorgeous and correct as much as Monique s hens in France (the only GCM in France ).

she is very hard to beat if she enter any Show .

I m impressed my friend RESPECT to you and BRAVO .

sublime my friend .

I can see clearly the progress from the F1 mother to the F2 daughter .
1) better hackle coloration ,well define in the F2
2) better feather type on the F2 . well tucked in .free from the fluff .

I do love the true f2 ( the one they come from the F1 x F1 ) better genes combination and better result .

can not get better than your F2 body and color wise .if you manage to stabilize this phenotype ( F2) as breeding true will be a champion .

I recon this F2 pullet will give you a well colored cockerel dabble barred and darker Gold/Orange hackle / Shoulder.

looking forward to see her chicks .
