Let's try this -- What are the stages of egg development?

1. She has been broody for approximately one week. If i take the eggs now and put her in the broody cage, what sage would the eggs be? Edible, or not? Developed?

2. should I move her to a closed in area, if so what should i put in the cage (4.5 x 3.5) for her to nest in? Still trying to decide if i want more chickens, 20 is a good amount for me, but i could make room for more free rangers.

Someone please come help me!!!

Oh, I know I need to move her one way or the other, she is prime target for possum or coon...

Not that I am the most knowlegeable on here by a long shot - but if you candle at 3 days you can see a good bit of veining - so to me - not edible. However, certian nationalities eat them with sauce around day 18

to each there own, not my idea of a treat lol!!

I moved my broody at 2 weeks and she was just fine - I imagine, like everything else, alot depends on her personality. If it's for her well being - I don't know that there is another option. Do you or a friend have an incubator for a backup plan?? That would be my way of thinking!!! Good Luck and let us know how you make out!!!
