Okay Im going on a mini rant here..UUUUGGGGHHH I just want to pull my hair out right now. Why is it, that people think its 'cute' to let their dog have puppies? Do people not realize that there are hundreds of thousands of animals that are put down each year because there is no home for them. People dont want them anymore. In what mind frame does someone think its cute to let your animals breed everywhere and all the time? They dont need to have puppies just so they know what its like. 'Ohhh...but they will miss out on having puppies. She would be a good mama. Lets breed her and put even more unwanted animals out on the streets!' Once the cute little puppies or kittens arent cute anymore, they get rid of them. Yes(hopefully) one or two will go to a really good home and be cared for for the rest of their life, but most arent. They go to a home, once the cuteness wears off then they are shipped off to another family who might want them for awhile. Then for whatever reason they decide to get rid of the dog as well. When the local town around here wanted to make it mandatory for all animals to be neutered, most people thought it was crazy. But I think its a great idea! If you are going to have an animal, you should be responsable for it and take care of it. Look out for its well being, as well as yours. Not let it breed and breed and breed.

GRRRRR!!!!

Actually, I know what the OP is talking about. People out there have this misconception that allowing an animal to have a litter or two before being fixed will make them happier. Convulted, but they think that.

Now Boyd you know I cant do that! That wouldnt help with our plan for the chickens to take over the world.

sorry, here's my mini rant.... With the exception of my dog beast (mixed breed mutt dog), every animal I own or ever have owned is either livestock or a working animal. If it doesn't pull it's own weight it goes to see the great spirit or my crock pot.

I grew up on a small working farm. All of our dogs, and I do mean ALL of them were bread once a year. We never kept any males around, but would get a stud to come out for service. Reasoning, is that the pups actually made a huge $$ monetary gain for the family. When you are getting 400-600 per pup in a litter of 8-12 dogs per litter... It adds up fast. All of our dogs were fully vetted, papered, hips checked etc. I've probably helped deliver 30 litters by myself, not to mention about 80 or so more in assisting my mom. I know how to do ears, tails, and stomachs born inside out. I can run a stitch with the best of them. Did all of our pups go to good homes? I would hope so, but if you would condemn us for making money how we were able to in a loving home, then why not condemn folks who allow a rooster to run amok a bunch of hens unless you are propagating chickens without license, oversight etc ??

Check craigslist sometime for all the unwanted roo's and hens. Most of them are put down as well....... Except in this country we eat those. Dogs and cats are socially unacceptable fare.

ETA sorry, just hit me funny tonight.

Boyd, Boyd, Boyd. I think you KNOW that the OP is talking about mutt dogs that would not bring a significant income to the family. My stepdaughter is one that refused to neuter her pit bull. No, we wren't gonna breed, she just thought it was cruel. He now has a new family and no nuts.

I have no problem with people that use their animals to breed for income. Pure breds are meant to be bred. I have issues with people that think breeding their mutts so they can "have the experience" and irresponsible.
