While I understand the rant completely, I am now taking care of a very pregnant cat that was dumped here.
I'm worried about having to place these kittens when we already have 5 cats that have been dumped in the neighborhood recently and have seen our invisible welcome mat for strays. (You know, the one that only abandoned cats can see that reads, "Free food found here, sucker inside."
)
She's too far along to do anything with and I wouldn't anyway, and we're neutering and spaying the rest asap, but it's just frustrating that other people that didn't want to deal with these wonderful animals could just dump them off to fend for themselves not knowing what would happen to them.
I don't think it's cute that she's pregnant, it's more of a stress than anything, but I'm not going to let the poor girl suffer and starve along with the kittens she's carrying. She has them, she's getting spayed, period.
My ds has a friend that continues to willfully allow her dog to continue to have litter after litter when she's been warned time and again to STOP letting the dog have babies. He's known her for about 3 years and in the time he's known her, that dog has had at least 4 litters that ds has told me about.
I've told her time and again to stop breeding this dog out, and she is still going.... and I'm a retired vet tech, she knows it, and comes back again and again asking the same questions. Ds was finally told to stop asking me, I've told her more than she needs to know, but to her, it's still "cute" to her.
(She is over 18, so it's not like dealing with a younger child.)
