I have no problem with people that use their animals to breed for income. Pure breds are meant to be bred. I have issues with people that think breeding their mutts so they can "have the experience" and irresponsible.

I let my cat have kittens because i wanted the experience....
So...?? and i still have them with me today,..
UNLIKE breeders that do it for money....

if I could clone beast the wonder mutt, I would. I hope to find another dog so good and loyal when someday he passes. Today he climbed onto the couch with me (was feeling punky and didn't get up till 11am) and pushed himself under my head. I ended up using him as a pillow. He refused to leave my side till I was up and on my own. Best guess is he's a boxer/pit mix or a boxer/shephard mix. Either way, he's the best dog I've ever had... And I am a bit of an AKC snob as long as you aren't breeding a line that makes them fragile or unhealthy.

yep, we had this discussion a couple weeks ago, think it got closed down.... mine all got fixed when we could afford to do it(apparently the vets up here need 3-4x the money the vets down south need
hmm.png
). I think there should be a way to help people fix their animals if they can't afford it, they charge well over $300 to do a spay here and over $150 to do a neuter. I know plenty of people that take good care of their pets, just can't afford to spay/neuter but would in a heartbeat if they could..... (and yes, I know some places have foundations etc but when I called ours for over a year they had no more $$)

While I understand the rant completely, I am now taking care of a very pregnant cat that was dumped here.

I'm worried about having to place these kittens when we already have 5 cats that have been dumped in the neighborhood recently and have seen our invisible welcome mat for strays. (You know, the one that only abandoned cats can see that reads, "Free food found here, sucker inside."

)
She's too far along to do anything with and I wouldn't anyway, and we're neutering and spaying the rest asap, but it's just frustrating that other people that didn't want to deal with these wonderful animals could just dump them off to fend for themselves not knowing what would happen to them.
I don't think it's cute that she's pregnant, it's more of a stress than anything, but I'm not going to let the poor girl suffer and starve along with the kittens she's carrying. She has them, she's getting spayed, period.

My ds has a friend that continues to willfully allow her dog to continue to have litter after litter when she's been warned time and again to STOP letting the dog have babies. He's known her for about 3 years and in the time he's known her, that dog has had at least 4 litters that ds has told me about.

I've told her time and again to stop breeding this dog out, and she is still going.... and I'm a retired vet tech, she knows it, and comes back again and again asking the same questions. Ds was finally told to stop asking me, I've told her more than she needs to know, but to her, it's still "cute" to her.

(She is over 18, so it's not like dealing with a younger child.)

All you need to do is check your local Craigslist for all the animals people want to get rid of. Funny how many are almost a year old and they just had a "baby" so the dog has to go. I don't have anything against breeding a proper dog as I have paid big bucks for a well bred dog but I agree that breeding litters of mutts aren't doing the owner or the dogs any favors.

That's why I switched to chickens - tasty too!

YOU wanted the experience and YOU gave them a good home. I am gonna go ahead a get graphic here.... The low lifes down the road from where we used to live allowed their dog, a mutt to be nice, to have multiple litters of puppies. Some got hit by cars, some were given away, and most ran loose, attacking chickens (alot of us have chickens here), etc. And they had the gall to come to the neighbors houses and get mad at THEM. Irresponsible breeding is wrong, as most wind up put down and in shelters.

I myself have an unaltered male cat. He stays indoors. Until we have the money to get him neutered, I am not gonna responsible for homeless kittens.
