I am building a fenced in chicken run and vegetable garden. It will be 10 x 24 and 8 feet tall. I will be fully enclosing (sides and Top) it with chicken wire. Was thinking about doing 3 chickens and a small flock of quail.

Would this be work out or would the chickens try to keep the quail from eating.

Also chicken wire is near usless with quail, a raccoon can pull a quail out through chicken wire, like he was trained for it.

I keep my quails with my bantam chickens and they do fine together.

They might do fine today and tomorrow but chickens can get coryza and all those other diseases any day of the week so your quail are at risk everyday you keep them with chickens.

I don't have issues with racoons or other critters. I have 4 dogs that keep the back yard rather critter free.

I have three big dogs. All the coon did climb down the cages and eat everything above the dogs level, then came back when the dogs werent around to finish off the stuff at ground level.

In the link I posted above I give a much more in depth explanation including references about keeping them together. Coryza isn't by any means the only disease concern.
