Letting them run free

Hi everyone. New here. We have a half acre that is all fenced in. The shortest part of the fence is about 4' tall. Is that tall enough to contain our chickens? We have 4 Bantams and 3 I don't know's.

If they want to go over a 4 ft fence they can. Mine don't, maybe too fat & lazy.

Banties can fly better than others.

My bantams can fly over a 4 ft. fence. They do fly back, however. I only let them in that area when I am around. When I am gone, they are in a fenced in area with deer netting on top. I don't want any other birds in with them for their food.

Mine have gone over and under their fence. Now that they're older they don't. Probably because they get enough goodies they don't try.
