Silkie-Rosecomb crosses make nice little birds. I've seen more than a few BYC posts about these. Mostly nice because they're very very very soft to hold and pet (think velvet pudding) and nice sociable pets, medium sized eggs. Ours are from dark blue silkie roo and black rosecomb hen:
This one is Kato, he irridesces purple and blue/green. I guess in purebred circles the purple is undesirable, but in Mutt Chicken, I've seen it called "Designer" colors:
