My daughter and I are also planning on going. I would be interested in getting a few of the standard Cochin chicks. I have one splash who hasn't decide if its a roo or a hen. I'm confused too. I had bought 6 giant blue cochins from a hatchery and only he/she survived and also isn't blue. LOL

I will be bringing prepaid birds with me. I have 4 pullets in blue, black, and splash and 1 black cockerel. I have about 7 or 8 in the incubator and when those hatch that will be it for a while as they aren't laying now.

I can accurately sex them so if you are looking for a particular color I will let you know what I have.

Thanks

This is what it says under blue cochin in most hatcheries (this particular one is from MPC). That's why you got a splash.

PLEASE NOTE: the color blue does not hatch true in chickens. Blue is a diluting gene for black. So, 50% of the blue cochins will hatch blue, and 25% will be black. The last 25% will be "splash," having received two diluting genes. Splash is a very light color, pale blue or white with "splashes" of black and darker blue in the feathers, especially in the wings and tail. PLEASE KEEP THIS IN MIND WHEN YOU ORDER! Not all of your blues will actually be blue!
