I am going to use 1 incubator to incubate and the other for lockdown and hatching. I have a still air LG with turner, and a hovabator 1602 still air. What would you suggest I use for the incubating? Is one a little better then the other? And can I put the LG turner in the hovabator? are they compatible? Thanks so much!

I don't know about the compatibility of the turner, but I highly recommend putting a fan in. You can get them cheap on eBay..

..and it really, really helped keep the temp steady in my LG. I installed it 8 days into my first hatch, and I got a 66% hatch rate on shipped eggs. It also dramatically decreased the amount of heat the element had to put out. Before I put the fan in, the heads of the screws the element is attached with were burning hot to the touch on the top of the bator. Once the fan was in, you could touch them and they were just barely warm. The element doesn't have to work nearly as hard to heat the bator, and I imagine that can only increase it's working life, as well as decreasing my power bill.

As far as which one to use as a hatcher, I haven't heard as many complaints about the hovabator as I have about the LG. So just to be safe I'd use the hovabator as the incubator.
