LG still air as a hatcher - Will chicks be burned?

I've been incubating in a Genesis 1588 and would like to use an LG still air as a hatcher. However, I am concerned about the unprotected metal heating element. Could this burn my LF chicks? I know that others do use the LG to hatch - do you do anything special to prevent this, or am I just being paranoid?

Thanks! (It's day 15!)

My lg has never burned a chick. I get worried with certain chicks after they dry out and get active checking out everything. But, never an injury in two years with lg hatcher. Good luck.

I also use a genesis to incubate and I use my old Little Giant still air to hatch in. Hatched out 6 overnight in the LG. Working good for me. Never any problems with the element hurting anything.. Don't worry you have a good plan going.

Thanks, everyone! I am reassured!

I set up the LG this morning and am now trying to stabilize the temperature. I won't need it for a few days, but I want to make sure I have everything ready on time.
Thanks again!

In case anyone else reads this thread-last night my chick burned its eye on the element and this morning its closed and milky looking

first time using the lg as a hatcher. Poor thing.
DH will have to rework this weekend before the ducks hatch.
