LG still air incubator temp?

Well, then I'd say we're good to go and all we have to do is sit and strum our fingers until the eggs arrive. I may run out tomorrow and see what I can find in the way of thermometers though. I agree the one that came with the machine could be tossed.

I have a problem it is now day 18 and my still air bator is acting up I think? I have taken the eggs out of the turner and set them on the wire to finish and the temp is only going up to 97 deg F before blinking like it is trying to stay at that temp. I have checked it all day it has read 97 so do you think my chicks are dead and how else can I raise the temp. This whole time it has been turned all the way up. Thanks, KJ:(

Are you taking the temp at the top of the eggs or at the bottom on the wire? There will be a huge difference. Did you move the thermometer when you moved the turner?

I have always had the thermometer on the wire at the bottom of th eggs. it was reading 100 and now only reads 94-96 deg... Should I increase the temp somehow? How? I would really be surprised if these eggs actually hatch. I have had nothing but temp problems from the start. One day I noticed the temp got up to 103 maybe even 104 at the top of the eggs. I think that probably killed them anyways. Temps to high one day to low another.... I think I will trash this incubator when I'm through and get a better one.

OK so I placed the temp at mid line of the eggs. It is reading 98 deg and staying steady at that temp. Please let me know how I can increase the temp or should I just leave it alone. Thanks

Thanks so much! I will let you know if I hear any cheaps coming from the bator on Friday... We can always hope right...This was just a test run but I would be happy if I were successful. Thanks, again, KJ:D

You can always hope. I read in Storey's Guide to Raising Poultry that in a still air, temps are not lethal until they hit 107. If the temps a little low they may just be a little late.

I had water wiggler temps that spiked to 101 some time in the night, and thought that was why I lost so many of my eggs. It was early on and they had started to develop. (I think, I'm still very very new at this)

Now I wonder if maybe it wasn't something else.

In my LG still air--In order to get my wiggler to 99.5, I have had to keep the temp at the top of the eggs at 103.5, almost 104. The wire usually reads about 5 degrees lower.

I use scientific therms. I have always had great hatches since I figured that out! Remember, the place on the digital therm that does the reading can be hard to figure out . The air gradient can really affect the reading.

Has anyone ever put a therm under a broody? I got a 104 reading under both my broody hens.................

Thank you for this thread...I set 12 Cuckoo Maran's 3 days ago in my little Giant with fan. My temps have been all wacky too...I do notice when the front door opens...which seems to be a lot with no snow on the ground now....that the temps drop to 98 and then spikes up the 101. I have a water wiggler with the digital thermometer...with the alarm set to go off at 101 degrees. Phew...I'm tired of that darn alarm. Scares me half to death...its only been 3 days and I bet I've adjusted it 10 times a day!!

Might move the bator to my bedroom closet!!
