LG still air

Do not let someones squableing run you off....Hatching is such a joy never let someones comments deter you from that joy....That said You would benefit greatly from a fan and a turner, but as stayed the LG is very probmatic If I were going to invest in a fan kit and turner which is about 80 dollars I would rather invest in a better incubator. I bought a Hovabator Genesis 1588 and can not believe the differance in the level of having to "babysit" the incubator as compaired to the LG and the standard Hovabator. (as a matter of fact I have someone comeing by tomorrow to buy the LG and the other Hovabator) all I have had to do is add water. I am hand turning right now because the size of the goose eggs would not fit in a goose egg turner.

Bottom line is enjoy your hatching and keep looking for the help you need WE ARE here to help if we can. and the moral support is topps!

I have been running a fluke 179 multimeter with temp lead hanging through one of the small holes in the lid of the LG still air, i keep it hanging at mid-egg level and I have been luck enough to have it staying at a steady 99.5-100.0 at that level in the incubator, and with setting up a wet bulb hygrometer i estimated my humidity right now to be around 43-45%(I was at 99.5 dry bulb temp, 80.5 wet bulb temp, comes out to 44% humidity) and that was several hours after i had no water in the bottom of the incubator, I had been keeping a small amount in it. so I let it run thru the night with no water except the small amount in my wet bulb set up, then I added about a tablespoon this morning before heading to work. My plan is to shoot for around 40% and 99.5-100.0 at egg level. I candled at day 6. . . started with 8 EE eggs, 7 candled good(or so I think, this is my first hatch attempt and its harder to see thru nice dark blue, green, khaki shells) and 1 candled as being unfertile(you could make out the round yolk and thats it, it didnt develop at all). I am on day 8 now, and am assuming I am still sitting at 7 of 8 developing. I have a question though. . . for the first maybe 5 days i had kept the middle water ring in the base of the incubator like half full. . . I think this may have had me running the humidity upwards of 60% or more, will this effect the hatch at all even though I have got the humidity lowered to a normal level now? should i run them in the incubator for a day or 2 with out adding water to kinda compensate for the "high" humidity days?
