When you're reading a writer you like, look to see how they handle these parts.
I agree, sometimes you can skip writing them for now, and go back and do them later. That helped me make some of mine much more succinct. Pages turned into a couple of paragraphs, because I knew where it had to go, and had a better idea of how to get there.
